This Saturday 7/31, will be even GREENER at the Spenard Farmers Market!
Saturday is CFL Day at the SFM. Saving money on energy costs is on everybody’s mind. Replacing incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent lights (CFL) are one way to easily save some money as they use up to 75 percent less energy, you replace them less often and they also decrease the amount of greenhouse gasses emitted into the atmosphere. Residential customers are invited to come by the Spenard Farmers Market Information Booth on July 31 and pick up a free CFL*, donated by Chugach Electric Association and Municipal Light & Power. Residential homeowners may also recycle unbroken CFLs that have been placed in sealed plastic bags at the booth. Broken CFLs and incandescent bulbs will not be accepted. *Quantities of free CFLs are limited.
